Many people think they have the right to talk about other people’s bodies as if their opinion actually matters. Well, not their body, not their right to say «too skinny», «too fat», «no curves», «plain/fat bum»…

Mucha gente cree que tienen el derecho a hablar de los cuerpos de otra gente como su opinión realmente importase. Bueno, no es su cuerpo, no es su derecho a decir «demasiado flaca», «demasiado gorda», «sin curvas», «culo carpeta/gordo»…

This that you see over here is a person that has not asked for your opinion about THEIR body.

Instagrammed! / ¡Instagramada!

Lentilart / Lentejarte

One day I was thinking of how I could challenge my creativity by giving it a rest at the same time. It had to be something different to what I usually do: so no drawing, knitting or writing allowed. I basically wanted to have a little break by doing something totally effortless to my mind. There I was, thinking of what to do and I suddenly realized it was nearly dinner time so I had to sort out the lentils I was going to cook. Do you do that? In my house we have always sorted out the lentils before cooking them, I find it terribly entertaining, don’t ask me why.

Un día estaba pensando en cómo podía poner a prueba mi creatividad dándole un respiro al mismo tiempo. Tenía que ser algo diferente a lo que normalmente hago: así que nada de dibujar, tejer o escribir. Básicamente quería darme un pequeño descanso haciendo algo totalmente sencillo para mi mente. Ahí estaba yo, pensando en qué hacer cuando de repente me di cuenta de que casi era la hora de la cena y tenía que cribar las lentejas que iba a cocinar. ¿Vosotros hacéis eso? En mi casa siempre hacemos una criba a las lentejas antes de cocinarlas, lo encuentro terriblemente entretenido, no me preguntéis por qué.

First, the lentils are poured onto the table where you spread them with your hands in order to discover those little stones that pretend to be lentils, and also the ugly ones, we do not eat ugly lentils at home. This task has to be done over and over until you make sure that no stones-pretending-to-be-lentils or no-pretty-lentils are going into the pot. I was well focused doing that when I started making shapes with them. I know, I know. Mothers always say not to play with the food, but technically this wasn’t playing, it was sorting out the lentils artistically… Or so we’ll say if someone asks.

Primero, se vierten las lentejas en la mesa donde las extiendes con las manos para descubrir esas diminutas piedras que pretenden ser lentejas, y también las feas, nosotros no comemos lentejas feas en mi casa. Esta tarea se tiene que repetir una y otra vez hasta que te aseguras de que ninguna piedra-que-pretende-ser-lenteja, ni lenteja-no-bonita va a la cazuela. Estaba bien concentrada haciendo esto cuando empecé a hacer formas con ellas. Lo sé, lo sé. Las madres siempre dicen que con la comida no se juega, pero técnicamente esto no era jugar, era clasificar las lentejas artísticamente… O eso diremos si alguien pregunta.

Making shapes with lentils gives maaaany different options and it is very relaxing to feel those little seeds in between your fingers.

Hacer formas con lentejas da muuuchas opciones diferentes y es muy relajante sentir esas diminutas semillas entre tus dedos.
