Knitted neck warmer / Cuello de punto

Hello! / ¡Hola!

Today I bring you a bit more advanced pattern so you can make a neck warmer in two of those movie and blanket and knitting afternoons.

Hoy os traigo un patrón un poquito más avanzado para que os podáis hacer un cuello en dos tardes de esas de peli y manta y punto.

Materials / Materiales:

• Size 6 wool / Lana del 6
• Circular needles (I used size 5 cause I didn’t have size 6) / Agujas circulares (yo usé agujas del 5 porque no tenía del 6).

Pattern / Patrón [Knitting glossary at the bottom / Glosario abajo]

1. Cast 84 stitches on circular needles.

    1.  Monta 84 puntos en agujas circulares.

2. First 5 rows, alternate 3 knit, 3 purl in each row.

2. Las primeras 5 hileras, alterna 3 del derecho, 3 del revés en cada hilera.

I recommend to use markers / Recomiendo usar marcadores

After that, the pattern goes this way /Después de eso, el patrón va de esta manera:

I repeated this pattern six times, and finished it with another set of five alternate 3K-3P rows.

Repetí este patrón seis veces, y lo terminé con otro set de cinco filas alternando 3D-3R.

* K= Knit / P = Purl /  yf = yarn forward / sl = slip / K2 tog = knit 2 stitches together / psso = pass slipped stitch over

** D = punto del Derecho / R = punto del Revés / HpD = Hilo por Delante / ds = deslizar (pasar un punto de la aguja izquierda a la derecha sin tejer) / D2j = tejer 2 puntos del Derecho juntos / dsdp = deslizar y disminuir punto (se pasa un punto sin tejer, se teje el siguiente, y a continuación, se pasa el primero sobre el segundo)

DIY – Shawl / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Chal

The weather has gone a bit cold lately and, as I wanted to make a shawl, I thought, what a better time? I did a bit of research and it is not very hard to make one, however, I still need to improve my technique… I did as I always do and kind of improvised. The outcome is not so bad, but it can be improved for sure.

El tiempo se ha vuelto un poco frío últimamente y, como quería hacer un chal, pensé, ¿qué mejor momento? Investigué un poco y no es muy difícil hacer uno, no obstante, todavía tengo que mejorar mi técnica… Hice lo que siempre hago e improvisé un poco. El resultado no es tan malo, pero desde luego que puede ser mejorado.

I did crochet this time. First few rows it is just making a triangle.

Hice ganchillo esta vez. Las primeras hileras es sólo hacer un triángulo.

I made quite a big triangle and then started working on just one of the sides.

Those last winter days / Esos últimos días de invierno

Oh, those last days of winter! It’s been fun, but it is time now to change the season… but wait! wait, wait, wait!! Are you going out like that? Take an extra jacket just in case. It gets colder at night, take the scarf. Or wait, I made you a hat…

¡Oh, esos últimos días de invierno! Ha sido divertido, pero es hora de cambiar de estación… pero, ¡espera! ¡¡alto, alto, alto!! ¿Vas a salir así? Coge una chaqueta extra por si acaso. Hace más frío de noche, coge una bufanda. O espera, te he hecho un gorro…

Yes… My grandma has made me a hat! And made sure I got it for these last days of winter. She made it using the double seed stitch. It is a lovely and simple stitch that I encourage you to try as it doesn’t require much of your attention and you’ll get a quite fancy outcome.

Sí… ¡Mi abuela me ha hecho un gorro! Y se ha asegurado de que me llegase para estos últimos días de invierno. Lo ha hecho utilizando el punto de trigo. Es un punto muy bonito y sencillo que os animo a probar ya que no requiere mucha atención y conseguiréis un resultado bastante chulo.

 

DIY – Hairband / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Diadema

Bloggers are beings full of creativity. Today I want to share with you some of it. My crochet skills are pretty basic, but if I find a good tutorial, I am able to crochet kind of properly. I am so excited about this year 2016, I cannot wait to share it with you all! I was kicked out of last year and this one received me with open arms, so I am full of positive energy to approach new projects and adventures!

And while I start those new projects, here I leave you one of the presents I knitted to give you some inspiration for winter knitting projects you may want to start.

Y mientras comienzo esos nuevos proyectos, aquí os dejo uno de los regalos que tejí para daros algo de inspiración para proyectos tejedores de invierno que puede que queráis empezar.

Jacket for crochet beginners / Chaquetilla para principiantes del ganchillo

I do not usually do crochet and I only know very basic stuff.But hey! that wouldn’t stop me from doing very cool things, would it? Neither it would stop you. Right, so now that we are on the same page, let’s start. I have made a cute and comfy jacket for those days when I need to throw something extra on, i.e., everyday.

Normalmente no hago ganchillo y sólo sé lo más básico. Pero, ¡ey! eso no me impediría hacer cosas muy chulals, ¿no? Ni a vosotros. Bien, así que ahora que estamos en la misma página, vamos a empezar. He hecho una torera muy mona y cómoda para esos días en los que necesito echarme algo más por encima, es decir, todos los días.

And now I bring my idea here so you can do it too! And then you can even use it as a scarf, two in one!

¡Y ahora os traigo aquí mi idea para que vosotros lo podáis hacer también! Y luego podéis incluso usarla como bufanda, ¡dos en uno!

Pattern: make a rectangle using the double crochet stitch, fold it (in a way that the width doesn’t change), sew the far ends (these will be the sleeves) and done!

Patrón: haced un rectángulo usando el punto doble de ganchillo, dobladlo (de manera que la anchura no cambie), cosed los extremos más alejados (estos serán las mangas) y ¡hecho!

Easy, right? Too easy? Well, then you can go ahead and change the far ends to single stitch to make the sleeves a bit tighter.

Fácil, ¿verdad? ¿Muy fácil? Bueno, entonces podéis animaros y cambiar los extremos a punto normal de ganchillo para hacer las mangas un poco más ajustadas.

See the change from single to doble stitch. // Mirad el cambio de punto normal a punto doble.

I did the two of them and you can see the results: the blue jacket is all doble crochet stitch and the red one is the one with tighter sleeves.

Yo hice los dos y podéis ver los resultados: la torera azul es todo punto doble de ganchillo y la roja es la que tiene las mangas más ajustadas.

Hurray for the change of season! / ¡Hurra por el cambio de estación!

With the knitting season back, I wanted to start it with a little project I have been delaying for ages. It is a thing that can be used either in cold or hot weather. Awesome, I know. What would it be?… Hmm… A bottle cover! Yeih! It is actually pretty cool because it keeps the drinks at the temperature they are meant to be: at cold degrees or hot degrees. (Plus it also keeps your hands at hands temperature).

Con la temporada de tejer de vuelta, quería empezarla con un pequeño proyecto que he estado retrasando desde hace años. Es una cosa que se puede usar tanto con tiempo frío como caluroso. Genial, lo sé. ¿Qué puede ser?… Hmm… ¡Una funda para botella! ¡Seh! La verdad es que mola bastante porque mantiene las bebidas a la temperatura a la que deben estar: a grados fríos o grados calientes. (Y además mantiene vuestras manos a temperatura de manos).

This project is also great for other projects’ leftovers. So gather all those threads you didn’t know what to do with and make a colourful bottle cover! I am sure there are loads of patterns on The Internet, but me being a free soul, I didn’t follow any. For this project, you will need circular needles. Using size 4 wool and needles, cast on 36 stitches and follow a constant pattern of 3knit-3purl until you reach the length you were looking for.

Este proyecto también viene bien para aprovechar sobras de otros proyectos. ¡Así que recolectad todos esos hilos con los que no sabíais qué hacer y haced una colorida funda para botella! Estoy segura de que hay montones de patrones en El Internet, pero siendo yo un espíritu libre, no seguí ninguno. Para este proyecto, necesitaréis agujas circulares. Usando agujas y lana tamaño 4, montad 36 puntos y seguid un patrón constante de 3bobo-3revés hasta que alcancéis la longitud que estábais buscando.

If you want a different size, the trick to calculate the number of stitches you are gonna need is very easy: knit few rows of six to ten stitches and you will see how your wool stretches. Based on that you can calculate the number of stitches you will need.

Si queréis un tamaño diferente, el truco para calcular el número de puntos que vais a necesitar es muy fácil: tejed unas cuantas hileras de seis a diez puntos y veréis cómo se estira vuestra lana. Basándoos en eso, podéis calcular el número de puntos que necesitaréis.

I made one that can be used for cans or glass bottles too, but making one for a mug is even easier: just knit a rectangle and add a couple of buttons to it.

Yo hice una que también se puede usar para latas o botellas, pero hacer una para una taza es incluso más fácil: simplemente tejed un rectángulo y añadidle un par de botones.

The trick for the elastic texture (yes, I have brought many tricks with me today) is to combine purl and knit stitches. I combined them in groups of three, which I feel works the best for me, but maybe groups of two or four may work as well as these ones. I suppose it all depends on the type of wool… The kind of wool I use is the one that expressly asks me to be knitted it in groups of 3knit-3purl stitches.

El truco para la textura elástica (sí, he traído muchos trucos conmigo hoy) es combinar punto bobo [del derecho] y del revés. Yo los combiné en grupos de tres, que es lo que mejor me funciona, pero quizá grupos de dos o cuatro pueden funcionar tan bien como estos. Supongo que todo depende del tipo de lana… El tipo de lana que yo uso es uno que expresamente me pide ser tejido en grupos de 3bobo-3del revés.

Oh, hey! Bye March! / ¡Oh, eh! ¡Adiós Marzo!

I am a bit late and missed the March post! But March was a crazy month really, with so many flowers around to get me distracted…

Ando un poco atrasada y ¡me perdí publicar en Marzo! Pero Marzo ha sido una locura de mes realmente, con tantas flores alrededor para distraerme…

Well, I have to confess, not only flowers have kept me distracted. It was kind of cold again for few weeks so… I’ve been knitting. And while knitting I realized I have these amazing knitting needles with which I can knit so quickly, I had to tell the world!

Bueno, he de confesar, que no son sólo las flores las que me han distraído. Ha vuelto a hacer un poco de frío durante algunas semanas así que… He estado tejiendo. Y mientras tejía me di cuenta de que tengo estas maravillosas agujas con las que puedo tejer súper rápido, ¡y se lo tenía que contar al mundo!

I got them recently as a present, so I do not know how much they cost. For me they are my jewelry cause it is the only thing I have that looks like gold.

Las tengo desde hace poco gracias a un regalo que me hicieron, así que no sé cuánto cuestan. Para mí son mis joyas porque es lo único que tengo que parece de oro.

These ones are circular needles and the wool flows really well on them. Only bad thing about the ones I have is that the cable that connects the needles is a bit too short, so I can only really stick to quite small projects like socks, legwarmers, hats…

Estas agujas en concreto son agujas circulares y la lana fluye realmente bien en ellas. Lo único malo de estas agujas es que el cable que las une es un poco (demasiado) corto, de modo que sólo puedo centrarme en proyectos pequeños como calcetines, calentadores, gorros…

So, if working on a small knitting project, I totally recommend them.They are called Turbo Lace.

Así que si estás trabajando en un proyecto pequeño, las recomiendo totalmente. Se llaman Turbo Lace.

DIY – Children Woolly Hat / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Gorro de lana para niños

Last Winter post of the season as it is starting to be quite warm over here! Today’s post is a pattern of a woolly hat for a 6 year old child.

Última publicación de invierno, ¡porque ya empieza a hacer calorcito por aquí! En la publicación de hoy, traigo un patrón para tejer un gorro de lana para niños de 6 años.

Materials: 4.5-5.00 mm diamond wool, colors 2336 (bluish) and 2219 (reddish), 5.00 mm circular needles, wool markers.

Materiales: Lana diamond de 4.5-5.00 mm, colores 2336 (azulado) y 2219 (rojizo), agujas circulares de 5.00 mm, marcadores.

1. Cast on 78 stitches and divide them by the middle so you get 39 stitches on one side and 39 on the other side.

    Monta 78 puntos y divídelos por la mitad de modo que tengas 39 puntos por un lado y 39 puntos por el otro.

2. Pattern will have the following groups of stitches: 7-13-6-13 / 7-13-6-13. The groups of 13 stitches will be the snowflakes.

    El patrón consistirá en los siguientes grupos de puntos: 7-13-6-13 / 7-13-6-13. Los grupos de 13 puntos serán los copos de nieve.

3. For the first 8 rows, follow this pattern: 3knit, 3purl.

    Para las primeras 8 hileras, sigue este patrón: 3 del derecho, 3 del revés.

4. From now on knit using knit stitch only. Knit for about 3 cm, which would be around 7 rows, and start the snowflake pattern following the above intervals: 7-13-6-13 / 7-13-6-13.

    A partir de ahora, teje con punto del derecho sólo. Teje hasta que tengas unos 3 cm, unas 7 hileras, y empieza a tejer el copo de nieve siguiendo los intervalos arriba mencionados: 7-13-6-13 / 7-13-6-13.

5. Completed the snowflakes, keep knitting until the hat is about 14 cm long, then intercalate a couple of decreasing rows: one decrease for every 6 stitches.

    Una vez completado los copos de nieve, sigue tejiendo hasta que el gorro tenga una longitud de unos 14 cm, entonces intercala un par de rondas de disminución: una disminución por cada 6 puntos.

6. Knit a couple of cm more and close quickly: one row decreasing 1 every 3 stitches and then 1 every 2. The hat should be around 18-19 cm long.

    Teje un par de cm más y cierra rápidamente: una hilera disminuyendo 1 de cada 3 puntos y luego 1 por cada 2. El gorro debería ser de 18-19 cm de longitud.

DIY – Woolly Hat / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Gorro de Lana

Resulta que la semana pasada perdí mi gorro de una manera bastante estúpida. Fui a hacer la compra y, como siempre, al entrar en la tienda me quité el gorro para no morir de calor y, muy inteligentemente, me lo puse debajo del brazo… llevando el abrigo puesto. Siendo yo como soy, a los dos minutos de estar haciendo la compra, olvidé por completo que llevaba un gorro bajo el brazo, MI gorro. Abreviando un poco, mi gorro decidió escapar y algún alma «bondadosa» decidió adoptarlo.

It happened that last week I lost my hat in a very stupid way. I went grocery shopping and, as always, when entering into the supermarket, I removed my hat to not to die from the heat and, very intelligently, I put it under my arm… while wearing my winter coat. Being as I am, two minutes after starting the shopping, I totally forgot that I was carrying a hat under my arm, MY hat. Long story short, my hat decided to escape and a «kind-hearted» soul decided to adopt it.

Estando así, sin gorro, gorrisnuda que se dice en el Mundo de los Gorros, el fin de semana fuimos a comprar un poco de lana para cubrir mi cabecita. Me inventé un patrón muy sencillo que podéis emular (uh, ¡palabro!) ¡gratis! Bueno, la lana y eso ya os lo compráis vosotros.

Being like this, without a hat, hatless as they say in HatLand, we went to buy some wool during the weekend to cover my little head. I made up a very easy pattern that you can emulate (uh, fancy word!) for free! Well, the wool and all that you buy it yourself.

Materiales: Agujas circulares de 4mm, lana de 4mm. Un ovillo debería ser suficiente, pero por si acaso comprad dos.

Materials: 4mm circular needles, 4mm wool. One ball should be enough, but buy two just in case.

1. Monta 90 puntos y sepáralos por la mitad de modo que tengas 45 puntos por un lado y 45 por el otro. Si ves que necesitas más o menos puntos porque tu cabeza es un poco más grande o más pequeña, intenta añadir o restar puntos en múltiplos de 3. Os dejo un vídeo para que veáis cómo hacer el Magic Loop, está en inglés, pero os podéis hacer una idea.

    Cast on 90 stitches and divide them by the middle so you get 45 stitches on one side and 45 on the other side. If you see that you need more or less stitches because your head is a bit bigger or smaller, try to add or take away stitches in multiples of 3. I leave you a video so you can see how to do the Magic Loop.

2. Teje intervalos de 3 puntos del derecho y 3 del revés durante las siguientes 10 hileras.  CONSEJO: Pon un marcador para saber dónde está el inicio.

     Knit intervals of 3 knit stitches and 3 purl stitches for the next 10 rows. TIP: Put a marker to know where the beginning is.

3. Después de haber tejido esas 10 hileras, sigue este patrón (todos los puntos serán del derecho):

– Teje seis puntos, saca con una tercera aguja los tres puntos siguientes, teje normal los tres puntos que siguen y ahora retoma y teje esos tres puntos que sacaste.

– Repite el paso anterior.

– Teje hasta la mitad.

– En la segunda mitad, teje seis puntos, saca tres con una tercera aguja, teje normal los tres puntos que siguen y retoma y teje los tres puntos que sacaste.

– Teje hasta el final de la vuelta.

– Teje cinco vueltas normales (puntos del derecho).

– En la sexta vuelta, repite los pasos anteriores. Así conseguirás el entrelazado.

3. After knitting those 10 rows, follow this pattern (all the stitches will be knit stitches):

– Knit six stitches, take out the three following stitches with a third needle, knit the next three stitches and take back and knit the three you were holding on the third needle.

– Repeat the previous step.

– Knit until the middle of the row.

– In the second half, knit six stitches, take out three stitches with a third needle, knit the three following stitches and take back and knit the three stitches you were holding on the third needle.

–  Knit until the end of the row.

– Knit five regular rows (knit stitches).

– In the sixth row, repeat the previous steps. This is how you will get the cables.

4. Disminuciones. Hicé un par de rondas de disminución cuando llevaba unos 15-16 cm. Y con unos 18 centímetros empecé a disminuir deprisa (una disminución por cada tres puntos y, después de unas tres vueltas, una disminución por cada dos puntos), ya que si se va disminuyendo a poquitos, al final se consigue un gorro puntiagudo, en vez de uno con un final redondito.

     Decreasing. I did a couple of decreasing rounds when I had reached the 15-16 cm. And when I had around 18 cm I started to decrease quickly (a decrease for every three stitches and, after three rows or so, a decrease for every two stitches), as if you decrease slowly, you will get a pointy hat, instead of a hat with a round end.
