Knitted neck warmer / Cuello de punto

Hello! / ¡Hola!

Today I bring you a bit more advanced pattern so you can make a neck warmer in two of those movie and blanket and knitting afternoons.

Hoy os traigo un patrón un poquito más avanzado para que os podáis hacer un cuello en dos tardes de esas de peli y manta y punto.

Materials / Materiales:

• Size 6 wool / Lana del 6
• Circular needles (I used size 5 cause I didn’t have size 6) / Agujas circulares (yo usé agujas del 5 porque no tenía del 6).

Pattern / Patrón [Knitting glossary at the bottom / Glosario abajo]

1. Cast 84 stitches on circular needles.

    1.  Monta 84 puntos en agujas circulares.

2. First 5 rows, alternate 3 knit, 3 purl in each row.

2. Las primeras 5 hileras, alterna 3 del derecho, 3 del revés en cada hilera.

I recommend to use markers / Recomiendo usar marcadores

After that, the pattern goes this way /Después de eso, el patrón va de esta manera:

3. Row 1K1, yf, K3, sl 1, K2 tog, psso, K3, yf, K7

  3. Fila 1 1D, HpD, 3D, ds 1, D2j, dsdp, 3D, HpD, 7D

4. Row 2, knit

  4. Fila 2, tejer del derecho

5. Row 3K2, yf, K2, sl 1, K2 tog, psso, K2, yf, K8

 5. Fila 3 2D, HpD, 2D, ds 1, D2j, dsdp, 2D, HpD, 8D

6. Row 4, knit

   6. Fila 4, tejer del derecho

I repeated this pattern six times, and finished it with another set of five alternate 3K-3P rows.

Repetí este patrón seis veces, y lo terminé con otro set de cinco filas alternando 3D-3R.

* K= Knit / P = Purl /  yf = yarn forward / sl = slip / K2 tog = knit 2 stitches together / psso = pass slipped stitch over

** D = punto del Derecho / R = punto del Revés / HpD = Hilo por Delante / ds = deslizar (pasar un punto de la aguja izquierda a la derecha sin tejer) / D2j = tejer 2 puntos del Derecho juntos / dsdp = deslizar y disminuir punto (se pasa un punto sin tejer, se teje el siguiente, y a continuación, se pasa el primero sobre el segundo)

Quick handmade gift / Regalo rápido hecho a mano

Hello, hello! I knoooowww! I am late again… uhg! I have so much work that I didn’t even have time to program this post and I just realized it was ‘Posting Day’. To be fair, I had everything ready, I only had to sit down and work on my blog…. Anyways, here I am.

¡Hola, hola! ¡Lo séeeee! Llego tarde otra vez… ¡uhg! Tengo tanto trabajo que no tuve tiempo de programar esta entrada y me acabo de dar cuenta que era ‘Día de Publicar’. Para ser justos, tenía todo listo, sólo tenía que sentarme y trabajar en mi blog… En fin, aquí estoy.

As Christmas is around the corner and some of you will be panicking thinking of what to make or buy… Well, I have something for you that will also help you to get rid of old T-shirts!

Como la Navidad está a la vuelta de la esquina y algunos de vosotros estaréis entrando en pánico pensando en qué hacer o comprar… Bueno, ¡tengo algo para vosotros que además os ayudará a deshaceros de camisetas viejas!

1&2.First we need to make thread out of T-shirts so we can do some chunky crochet.

1&2.Primero necesitamos hacer trapillo con unas camisetas de modo que podamos hacer ganchillo con trapillo.

 

3&4.And now that we have the  chunky thread, it’s when the fun starts. Using three different threads, braid them into one super chunky thread and make a spiral with it.

3&4.Y ahora que tenemos el trapillo, es cuando empieza la diversión. Usando tres hilos de trapillo diferentes, trenzadlas en una cuerda súper gordita y haced una espiral con ella.

5.And let’s sew! (I tried with the sewing maching first, but I am not very good at it yet… You can try, though, it is quicker if you know how to do it). [If you know how to crochet, that is quicker than sewing, but the outcome will be slightly different].

5.¡Y vamos a coser! (Lo intenté primero con la máquina de coser, pero aún no se me da muy bien… Pero vosotros lo podéis intentar, es más rápido si sabes cómo hacerlo). [Si sabéis hacer ganchillo, eso es más rápido que coser, pero el resultado será ligeramente diferente].

DIY – Case / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Estuche

Yep! Let’s do it! This is an easy peasy looking fancy kind of DIY; so if you wanna show of, this is definitely your DIY.

¡Sí! ¡Vamos a hacerlo! Esta es una manualidad del tipo fácil y molón; así que si queréis fardar, ésta es definitivamente vuestra manualidad.

Materials: needle, thread, an old t-shirt, a piece of fancy fabric and a zip. (If you have a sewing machine, it will make things waaaaaaay easier and quicker).

Materiales: aguja, hilo, una camiseta vieja, un trozo de tela molón y una cremallera. (Si tenéis una máquina de coser, hará las cosas muuuuuuuucho más fáciles y rápidas).

The old t-shirt is the inside part. The thing is… we’ve gotta sew everything inside out, so it kicks ass looks pretty when we finish it.

La camiseta vieja es la parte de dentro. La cosa es… vamos a tener que coser todo de dentro afuera, de modo que patee culos se vea bonito cuando lo terminemos.

Keep in mind that the zip has to be sewed in between the two fabrics.

Ten en cuenta que la cremallera tiene que ser cosida entre las dos telas.

Sew the sides.

Cose los lados.

Nearly there. Just turn the fabric (outside in)… And done!

Casi estamos. Sólo dale la vuelta a la tela (de fuera a dentro)… ¡Y listo!

DIY – Stuffed bunny / DIY – Conejito de peluche

More handmade presents! This time I bring a stuffed bunny and some tricks to make it look quite neat.

¡Más regalos hechos a mano! Esta vez traigo un conejito de peluche y algunos trucos para que se vea bien impecable.

First, draw the shape you want on the side of the fabric that will be the inside. Put the outside parts facing each other and sew everything but one little area (see circled area on the bottom of the fabric).

Primero, dibuja la forma que quieras en el lado de la tela que será la parte interior. Pon las partes exteriores cara a cara y cose todo excepto una pequeña zona (ver área rodeada en la parte de abajo de la tela).

Next part is the tricky one. We have to put the fabric inside out so the actual outside part is outside… Pictures up there. Once the outside part is outside and such and such, fill it with cotton. A lot of cotton. Seriously, when you think is filled, well, you are only half way.

La siguiente parte es la complicada. Tenemos que poner la tela de dentro a fuera de manera que la parte que de verdad es la de fuera está mirando hacia afuera… Fotos arriba. Una vez la parte de fuera está afuera y tal y tal, llenadlo con algodón. Mucho algodón. En serio, cuando penséis que está lleno, bueno, estáis sólo a mitad de camino.

When it is completelly filled with cotton (pieces of fabric are also ok, but cotton makes it more fluffy), sew the last part. TIP. This last part is the one will look «ugly», and that’s why I left the inside of one of the legs for the last part of the sewing; but you can always leave an easiest part as it can be hard to fill the stuffed bunny from here. Add a couple of buttons, and done!

Cuando está completamente rellenado con algodón (trozos de tela también valen, pero el algodón lo hace más mullidito), cosed la última parte. CONSEJO. Esta última parte es la que se verá «fea», y es por eso que yo dejé la parte interior de una de las piernas para la última parte a tejer; pero siempre podéis dejar una zona más fácil ya que puede ser difícil rellenar el conejito de peluche por aquí. Añadid un par de botones, ¡y hecho!

 

DIY – Customized mug / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Taza personalizada

For me, best presents ever are those that are handmade by the ‘gifting’ person. One of the handmade presents I made this year was a mug, weeell, if we want to be technical, I didn’t make the mug, I just painted it. But here are the pictures for you to enjoy and get some ideas. [To make these mugs we went to a shop where people can buy and paint ceramics, so I cannot detail the materials this time].

Para mí, los mejores regalos son aquellos hechos a mano por la persona ‘regaladora’. Uno de los regalos hechos a mano que hice este año fue una taza, bueeeno, si queremos ser técnicos, yo no hice la taza, sólo la pinté. Pero aquí están las fotos para que las disfrutéis y tengáis algunas ideas. [Para hacer estas tazas fuimos a una tienda donde la gente puede comprar y pintar cerámica, así que no puedo detallar los materiales esta vez].

Tip. Usually, when painting mugs, the colour looks way clearer than what it will be after being in the oven.

Consejo. Normalmente, cuando se pintan tazas, el color se ve mucho más claro de lo que será después de estar en el horno.

What do we need? / ¿Qué necesitamos?

Step 1. Head / Paso 1. Cabeza

Bandana (red/roja)

 

Wig / Peluca. (Sorry, no picture available / Perdón, no hay foto disponible)

Sunglasses / Gafas de sol

Moustache / Bigote (we had a little problem with our moustaches… they didn’t stick, so we draw them on our pretty Hulkas’ faces / nosotras tuvimos un problemilla con nuestros bigotes… no pegaban, así que los dibujamos en nuestras bellas caras de Hulkas)

Tip– Remember to colour your eyebrows with face yellow paint.

Consejo – Recuerda pintar tus cejas con pintura de cara amarilla.

Step 2. Upper body / Paso 2. Parte de arriba del cuerpo

Boa. (Preferably red / Preferiblemente roja)

Yellow sleveless shirt / Camiseta sin mangas amarilla & Stencil / Plantilla

Step 3. Waist / Paso 3. Cintura

Belt / Cinturón (Made with thin polyethylene vinyl acetate fabric / Hecho con goma eva)

Step 4. Legs / Paso 4. Piernas

Leggins / Mallas

These accessories plus a bit of attitude and you’ll also be able to be Hulk Hogan, dear hulkmaniacs!

DIY – Cardboard box / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Caja de cartón

Do you need a cute little box but your budget is too low? Those tiny things can be quite expensive, so today I will show you how to make one with a cereal box.

¿Necesitas una linda cajita pero tu prespuesto es muy bajo? Esas pequeñas cosas pueden ser bastante caras, así que hoy os enseñaré cómo hacer una con una caja de cereales.

First, the measurements. As you will notice, the total length is a bit larger than the sum of each part because we have to count the little space that will be the bend.

Primero, las medidas. Como os daréis cuenta, la longitud total es un poco más larga que la suma de cada parte porque tenemos que contar el pequeño espacio que será la dobladura.

From one single cereal box we can get loads of boxes.

De una sola caja de cereales podemos obtener montones de cajas.

Once we have the cutout, let’s paste some nice wraping paper over it.

Una vez tengamos el recorte, vamos a pegar un bonito papel de regalo encima.

Wait a bit until it’s dry. Then fold and paste with some glue.

Espera hasta que esté seco. Luego dobla y pega con algo de pegamento.

DIY – Shawl / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Chal

The weather has gone a bit cold lately and, as I wanted to make a shawl, I thought, what a better time? I did a bit of research and it is not very hard to make one, however, I still need to improve my technique… I did as I always do and kind of improvised. The outcome is not so bad, but it can be improved for sure.

El tiempo se ha vuelto un poco frío últimamente y, como quería hacer un chal, pensé, ¿qué mejor momento? Investigué un poco y no es muy difícil hacer uno, no obstante, todavía tengo que mejorar mi técnica… Hice lo que siempre hago e improvisé un poco. El resultado no es tan malo, pero desde luego que puede ser mejorado.

I did crochet this time. First few rows it is just making a triangle.

Hice ganchillo esta vez. Las primeras hileras es sólo hacer un triángulo.

I made quite a big triangle and then started working on just one of the sides.

Hice un triángulo bastante grande y después empecé a trabajar en sólo uno de los lados.

Bloggers are beings full of creativity. Today I want to share with you some of it. My crochet skills are pretty basic, but if I find a good tutorial, I am able to crochet kind of properly. DIY – Rag doll (II) / Hazlo Tú Mismo – Muñeca de trapo (II)

Hello! ¡Hola!

Hope you are having a good time. In case that any of you want to prepare a personalized gift for the coming festivities, here I bring you the almost-step-by-step tutorial of how to make a customized doll.

Espero que estéis pasando un buen rato. En caso de que alguno de vosotros quiera preparar un regalo personalizado para estas festividades, aquí os traigo el tutorial casi-paso-a-paso de cómo hacer una muñeca customizada.

Materials / Materiales:

1. Old t-shirt or cloth / Camiseta vieja o trapo.
2. Cotton / Algodón.
3. Fabric / Tela.
4. Wire / Alambre.
5. Thread and needle / Hilo y aguja.
6. Yarn / Hilo (de lana o similar).

1. The torso / El torso

Cut two pieces of fabric keeping in mind that after sewing them, the torso will be of a smaller size (the same will happen with the head and the limbs). Also remember that all you are sewing is inside out, so you will have to turn it when filling it. With the wire make a little sphere with a stick coming out of it (the shape is like a balloon). Cover it with fabric and put some more fabric inside the sphere to give it some consistency. To give it some shape, saw quickly and fill the torso with the wire and cotton around it.

Corta dos trozos de tela teniendo en cuenta que después de coserlos, el torso será de un tamaño menor (lo mismo sucederá con la cabeza y las extremidades). También recuerda que todo lo que estás cosiendo está de dentro afuera, de modo que tendrás que darle la vuelta cuando vayas a rellenarlo. Con el alambre haz una pequeña esfera con una vara saliendo de la misma (la forma es como la de un globo). Cúbrelo con tela y pon algo más de tela dentro de la esfera para darle algo de consistencia. Para darle algo de forma, cose rápidamente y llena el torso con el alambre y algodón alrededor de éste.

2. The limbs / Las extremidades

The same with the limbs. You can go ahead and sew them carefully.

Lo mismo con las extremidades. Puedes ir y coserlas con cuidado.

3. The head / La cabeza

The head does not have any wire inside, just fabric and cotton.

La cabeza no tiene nada de alambre dentro, sólo tela y algodón.

4. Hair and face / Pelo y cara

There are many good online tutorials that can show you how to add the hair to the doll’s head. I followed one where I had to put three or four rows of yarn on the doll’s head. I used a white thread so you can see where to sew. After adding the hair, I sew the eyes and the mouth (I also thought of drawing them, but it will last longer if you sew it).

Hay muchos buenos tutoriales online que te pueden enseñar cómo añadir el pelo a la cabeza de la muñeca. Yo seguí  uno donde tenía que poner tres o cuatro hileras de lana en la cabeza de la muñeca. Usé un hilo blanco para que puedas ver dónde cosí. Después de añadir el pelo, cosí los ojos y la boca (también pensé en dibujarlos, pero durará más si lo coses).

5. Assembling the doll / Montando la muñeca

This last part can be a bit tricky as it involves doing and undoing the torso as you go.

Esta parte puede ser un poco complicada ya que implica hacer y deshacer el torso según avanzas.

6. Dress up your doll / Viste a tu muñeca

Dress up your doll and it will be all set.
